More details

These components are good but they lack details that would make them realistic when rendered. Making more detailed components and possibly have them render-ready would make it way more useful since everyone is rendering nowadays.

    Hey Minh,

We specifically designed the Flex components to be as simple as possible for better performance and low model weight, but I totally understand the need for higher detail. The issue though is that there are so many different directions to take when adding detail, with so many manufacturers and designs out there.

I suggest we try something out. What if you took one of the Flex components, zapped it, and then added to it the minimum detail you think would be necessary for a good render. I would then go over it, and see what we can do to improve without hitting the performance too much.

Let me know what you think.

    Hey Yoni,

I’m not Minh but I’ll nonetheless expand on his point. There are some rather easy tweaks that would go a long way in making the FlexTools Windows more “render-ready”, if you will. I just prepared a comparison between a standard window and one that I prepared the way you suggested and I’d love to see it.

    Check it out:

    I added/modified:
    – somewhat rounded profiles instead of the boxy ones
    – modified the sill to reflect what an actual external window sill looks like
    – Weep hole covers

    What I’d love to see:
    – The option to choose between boxy, somewhat rounded and fully round profiles.
    – Have at least some choices when it comes to sills
    – Double, maybe even triple glazing

The changes I made are neither heavy in terms of performance nor should they be too hard to implement. I’d love to hear your feedback regarding this. Feel free to hit me up via eMail if You need any further feedback.

    Thanks a lot!

I really like the look Matthias. It would be great to have those options.
